Autumn 2019 – The Happy Twins

Dzogchen and Mahamudra are harmoniously complementary. Their evocative styles offer us beautiful metaphors which can sweetly and poetically ease us out of our rigid concepts. The retreat was focussed on two texts, the Mirror of Luminous Revelation, a dzogchen treasure text from Nuden Dorje Drophen Lingpa Drolo Tsal, and the Mahamudra Upadesha by Tilopa. The Nuden Dorje text was previously translated as “The Mirror of clear meaning”. Teachings on the Mirror of Luminous Revelation started on Sunday, while teachings on the Mahamudra Upadesha began on Wednesday.

If you have participated in a retreat with James and would like to have copies of the texts from this retreat you may request them here.

Spring 2018 – The one ground and its qualities

In this retreat the focus was on using the dzogchen view to awaken to the inseperability of awareness and the openness of the ground. James was teaching from a text published in chapter 9 of the book Simply Being, where Padmasambhava sets out the truth of our existence.

The text is available in Tibetan with English translation here, and in English only here.

In the evenings the group participated in the Padmasambhava Practice (taught in full during the Autumn 2016 retreat, audio available here) and some remarks related to these evening practices are included here in a separate section at the end.
